Teresa pursued a career in Chinese medicine following a lifetime of playing sports and receiving treatments from many different modalities. As an athlete at the University of Victoria, where she received her undergrad in Bio-Psych, she developed the intricate and powerful connection between wellness and elite performance. Through Oriental medicine she learned how to help the body heal, by treating it as a whole and getting to the root cause of the physical symptoms.
As a registered acupuncturist/traditional Chinese medicine practitioner she has treated many athletes from around Vancouver including the Vancouver Canucks and Whitecaps for muscular-skeletal problems and energy work. She was also acupuncturist to U2 when they came through town on their tour. In addition to soft tissue treatments she is known for treating a wide variety of conditions including: allergies, stress, digestion, addiction, sleep disturbances, depression, gynecological/menopausal issues and lack of energy.
Specializations include: acupuncture, cupping and herbal remedies, HaraÔ (Japanese palpation) for constitutional imbalances and diagnosis, constitutional facial rejuvenationÔ, for wrinkles and sagging and acutonicsÔ, sound therapy used at a cellular level because all organisms communicate and read their environment by evaluating energy fields. The behavior of energy waves is important because vibrational frequencies can alter the physical and chemical properties of an atom as surely as physical signals like histamine and estrogen. This can be used as an adjunct with the needling or as a way to gain the benefits of using the energetic system of TCM without the use of needles.
With all the stressors in modern living it is a constant struggle to be and remain balanced. We work cohesively in this multi-disciplinary clinic to speed up recovery and this helps get to the root of the problem: more minds, more expertise, quicker and lasting recovery!
