“The treatment starts as soon as they walk in the door.” This is what one of my teachers told me. And this is how I approach what I do.
I am here to empower you, to assist you, to be in your natural state of health through everything that I’ve been trained to do and through all that I am, which I continue to cultivate and grow daily.
I use Traditional Chinese acupuncture (R.Ac.), Shiatsu (Japanese therapeutic bodywork), as well as a Shiatsu-Thai massage flow treatment to help you harmonize whatever is disrupting your well-being: stress/anxiety, other psycho-emotional issues, and/or various types of pain anywhere in your body.
Traditional Chinese acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to effectively treat a number of conditions of the body-mind-spirit. Very thin, sterilized needles area inserted into specific acupuncture points on the body in order to help stimulate your own healing potential. This treatment may also be combined with cupping, however, whatever is done will be discussed with you beforehand.
Shiatsu shares a similar foundation as acupuncture in Traditional Chinese medicine, although the idea was taken to Japan and then developed. Instead of using needles, I use my hands, thumbs, elbows and knees to deliver a physical and energetically based treatment to help you alleviate whatever is blocking your state of well-being. It is incredibly relaxing, and can be wonderfully combined with acupuncture to offer healing to those who also receive comfort from touch/physical therapies, such as massage. Gentle stretches are also incorporated to help open up your body and flow your energy. Pressure can be deep or gentle, depending on your preference, as well as on your condition. Treatments are done fully clothed, and may involve you being treated on a mat, as well as on a massage table. If you are new to acupuncture, this can be a great way to combine a gentle introduction to needles with anther effective energetic and physical treatment.
Because I learned Thai massage in the northern area of Thailand, what I practice is more like Thai-yoga massage. This means I incorporate more stretches into a treatment. In combination with Shiatsu, the Shiatsu-Thai massage flow treatment is more intense in the degree of stretching that occurs, and because of this, it can only be done in certain instances. For example, a certain degree of flexibility must already be present, and your joints must be in a healthy state. This treatment is great for athletes and also goes well with an acupuncture treatment. However, to determine whether this is right for you and your condition, please inquire and we can talk about which treatment will be optimal for you. To receive this treatment, you are fully clothed and it is done on a mat.
My ultimate goal, however, is to help you to raise your state of self-awareness by assisting you in dropping distractions coming from your body and mind, so that you can freely create the life you want by going inward to find your true beauty, passion, power and creativity. It is by going inward that we then naturally expand outward into this world in positive ways for ourselves, as well as for others.
My life has been inspired by numerous incredible people who have all been my teachers at home here in Canada, as well as in my travels abroad. Formal teachings have come from three years of studying Chinese medicine in Victoria, BC; 1,500 hours of Shiatsu studies combined through Langara College in Vancouver, BC and Living Earth Healing Arts in Toronto, ON; and 60 hours of Thai massage training
in Chiang Mai, Thailand. I also have an honours B.A, double major in sociology and religion from the University of Toronto. I continue to learn and to grow, and will do so for as long as this life will allow.
I am a huge believer in the benefits of self-cultivation and maintain a regular personal practice. This is what sustains me and allows me to then be better able to assist others. I also gratefully receive treatments from other holistic healing practitioners.
We are all connected. And I hope to share the gifts that I have been given with you, so that you can then be fully able to share yours with others. Life is a continuous flow. One person to the next.
I look forward to meeting you.
